With reference to Mr. Monson's semi-official letter (53611/7/44) of April 11 enclosing a memorandum by Dr. Gordon King on the question whether the methods of examinations and the standard of proficiency required from candidates at the examinations in certain Medical Colleges in Free China where former students of the University of Hong Kong are completing the medical curriculum fulfil the condition stated in the Council's letter of August 12, I am directed by the President of the Council to say that the Executive Committee of the Council much appreciate the full and informative statement of the position with which Dr. Gordon King has been so good as to furnish them, and are satisfied that students who obtain degrees granted by the University under a scheme on the lines proposed in the Department's letter (53611/4/42) of May 21, 1943, after (1) going through two or more years of medical study in the University of Hong Kong, and (2) completing the curriculum in one of the Medical Colleges specified in Dr. Gordon King's memorandum, may properly be registered as Colonial practitioners under section 11 of the Medical Act, 1886.
